Taking a Fix...

Our son is a Chief Quartermaster (QMC) in the navy, and part of his job is to make sure their ship safely navigates while at sea.  Some of the hardest times to do that is when navigating restricted waters -- when a ship is within 2nm of shoal water or land.

Safe speed must be used in restricted waters and Line of Position has to be taken no more than every 3 minutes versus every 3-15 minutes as done while piloting open waters.

I know that was a lot of technical stuff that is tough to understand, but this is what I get from that.  When the ship is in danger of collision, it must slow it's speed and make sure of where it is in relationship to everything else more often than when it's in open water.

The same is true for Christians navigating through this life.  We are citizens of heaven, but we are not in heaven.  We are in restricted waters.  We must be continually checking our position in relationship to the One who knows the way.  We do this by reading God's Word (the Bible), continually realigning (fixing) our minds on the things of the Spirit, and then making our choices according to what He says is right. 

All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work.  2nd Timothy 3:16-17 CJB 

Since it is through the Spirit that we have Life, let it also be through the Spirit that we order our lives day by day.  Galatians 5:25 CJB

Stay sober, stay alert!  Your enemy, the Adversary, stalks about like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  1st Peter 5:8 CJB 

LORD, I want to navigate the restricted waters of my life well.  I know that You know the way and that You clearly see the hidden dangers all around me.  Help me keep my eyes on You, trust You, and choose to follow You and Your ways without hesitation.  Thank You!  Amen.

    Especially true in today's difficult times. May we all slow down so we can be aligned and realigned to God's perfect will!

1 Corinthians 12:27 - Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.

Okay, call me crazy, but this is where my mind is today.  Everyone of us who has confessed with our mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in our hearts God raised Jesus from the dead, are saved (Romans 10:9). Have you ever noticed the way our Heavenly Father will give us with the same message over and over and over from different people and all kinds of situations until we understand what He's telling us?  Maybe He doesn't need to do that with you, but that's how He teaches me. Very gently. And He's super patient with all my questions. Oh! He doesn't give it to me all at once either.
